SCA Board Candidates

Charlie Bofferding is a retired Boeing engineer, union leader, performance consultant, and executive coach. He has two engineering degrees, an MBA, and a handful of certificates. He and his wife Diana raised four children and they have lived in Somerset for the last decade. His family (which now includes four grandchildren) all live within 20 minutes. He was a member of the Somerset CRC from 2021-2023 and served as the SCA President from 2022-2023. He resigned from the Board in 2023 due to reasons detailed in his resignation letter.

Francis Brito retired from the USCG Facilities Design & Construction Center as Director of Projects. He has a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, an MBA, and a licensed Professional Structural Engineer (P.E.) (retd). He and his family have lived in Somerset since 1992; his children went through the excellent Bellevue school system, starting with Somerset Elementary School, becoming National Merit Scholars. He served on the SCA Board for more than five years, including a term as SCA President. While on the Board, his experiences were purposeful and communal, except at the Board meeting in May 2023 when he resigned due to reasons detailed in his resignation email. Francis looks forward to working with the Board towards rebuilding harmony and trust.

Benson Zhang is a hotel owner/operator. He has an MBA degree and a Master’s of Computer Science, previously working as an IT consultant at Deloitte and Accenture. He moved to Somerset in 2009 and served on the CRC from 2010 to 2011. His daughter is a doctor at Seattle Children’s Hospital, and his son graduated from Newport High School and is now a medical student at the University of Maryland. Benson wants to return to serve the Somerset community and looks forward to working with the Board as a team to make Somerset a better place again.

Yue Zhao is an independent consultant specializing in software engineering. He holds two Master’s degrees in Computer Science, earned from Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Tokyo. Yue and his family have been proud residents of Somerset since 2020. His daughter initially attended Somerset Elementary School and is now a student at Forest Ridge School of the Sacred Heart. Yue is eager to serve the Somerset community, striving to help create a living environment that promotes respect, harmony, and conscientiousness.

Christina Lee is an orthodontist who founded and runs her own practice. After earning her dental degree from New York University and completing her Master’s in Orthodontics at Columbia University, she moved to Seattle, her husband's hometown. They moved to Somerset in 2022 and are proud to be raising their two young daughters in such a wonderful community. Throughout her education, Christina held several leadership roles, including Vice President of the Chinese Student Dental Association at NYU and Chief Resident of the Orthodontics Program at Columbia. In Somerset, she actively volunteered as an Ambassador for the Somerset Pride Committee until it was disbanded by the SCA. Christina is eager to join the SCA Board to contribute to building a supportive, transparent, and communicative community where everyone's interests are represented.
